On Saturday morning I visited the Word.
How to describe it? That’s easy in one word – fantastic.
I have belonged to many libraries in my life and this is the best.
So congratulations to all concerned in producing this 21st-century icon.
It is something of which South Shields can be justly proud.
This state-of-the-art centre for the written word is light and bright, the staff are welcoming and helpful – and what a view when inside of a great river.
If you haven’t been, I urge you to do so.
And to all those critics and doubters, I say simply this – stop moaning and whinging. As the old poem might have said: “Whisht lads had ya gobs and let’s celebrate The Word!”
