Re the residents call to fix "dangerous" potholes in Bedford Avenue, Laygate, South Shields (June 27).

I have every sympathy with them.

The Gazette reported the Labour dominated South Tyneside Council were last year given an extra £100,000 from HM Government to fix potholes on borough roads, never mind the fact

millions of quid has already been spent on the ludicrous plan 365 which, to date, has seen our once beautiful market place all screwed up with more unnecessary upheaval of our town on

the way, which will see the demolition of the main post office in Keppel Street, to make way for a horrific new concrete grand transport interchange which will be just what a one-horse town

like South Shields needs.

Ken Johnson,

South Shields.
