Scheme is too complicated

I wish Alex Thompson well in his petition for the creation of a national litter clean up scheme.

However, it does seem a tad complicated involving a Government-run voluntary litter clean up scheme where publicly-funded bodies are made responsible for planning, organsing and implementing litter pick-ups.

The pick-ups would utilise volunteers and would be organised and controlled by the authority responsible for the area being cleaned by any particular campaign. Hence, the following limerick:

When you pick up litter to keep our street and parks tidy and clean

You don’t do it for the Queen

But you take it in your stride

Out of a sense of pride.
