HEBBURN Town's recent revival has come shuddering to a halt.
Rob Marsden's side had got five games in a row without defeat under their belts to ease their position at the foot of the Northern League Division Two.
But the new manager's honeymoon period is now well and truly over after two successive 3-0 reve
rses.
Hebburn slumped to defeat at Northallerton in midweek, and that was followed up by another setback at home to Brandon at the weekend.
Hebburn went into the game hopeful of picking up all three points against their struggling visitors.
But they were hit on the break by a good, counter-attacking performance which they failed to cope with.
Brandon took the lead in the 19th minute when a fast-flowing three-man break saw Matthew Hornsby drive home from 10 yards after a fantastic save by home keeper Gary Rogers.
Hebburn pressed for an equaliser, but were undone by a slack piece of defending. They switched off from a corner which was played short, and Kim Bowman pounced with a glancing header at the near post.
After the interval, Hebburn applied extreme pressure in a bid to get back into the game, but found Brandon goalkeeper Ian Myers in fine form.
He twice denied midfielder Marc Brocklehurst and also Nick Pain, and it was Brandon who put the game to bed following another counter-attack, with Stephen Fothergill finishing off at the back post.
Hebburn's day was summed up on 68 minutes when striker Michael Armstrong hauled down by keeper Myers, but Karl McMann blasted the resulting penalty well wide to complete a sorry afternoon.
Elsewhere in Division Two, JARROW ROOFING'S game at home to Stokesley was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, as was SIMONSIDE'S Durham Alliance Cup clash at Durham Garden House.
