WEARSIDE League outfit Jarrow rounded off a successful season on the pitch with a great night off it too.

Their sportsman's dinner at the Ellison Club, Jarrow, was a real hit with supporters, players, management and sponsors alike.

Former Liverpool and Denmark star Jan Molby was the guest speaker, with tales of his time at Ajax with legend Johan Cryuff, and also on Merseyside with the likes of Ian Rush and Graeme Souness.

It rounded off a great campaign for Jarrow, who finished in their highest Wearside League placing ever after a storming second half to the season propelled them into the runners-up spot.

Manager Dave Bell is looking forward to a couple of weeks off, before starting planning for the forthcoming campaign.

And strengthening his squad will play second fiddle only to the battle he expects to retain some of his players, after they put themselves in the shop window with some great performaces last season.

He said: "We've drawn up a bit of a hit list of players we want and positions we need to fill.

"But I wouldn't be surprised as well if other clubs came looking at some our players after the season they've just had."
