JARROW finished their Wearside League season by clinching the runners-up spot last night.
A 2-0 victory at Annfield Plain sealed second spot ahead of Whitehaven, and ensured the club's best ever campaign was achieved.

Craig Armstrong struck in the 17th minute, and the lead was doubled after 28 minutes, courtesy of Dean Patton.

Both
goalkeepers were called into action after the break, but Jarrow thoroughly deserved their victory in the end.

And boss Dave Bell was delighted with his players, and praised their commitment and ability.

He said: "It's a hell of an achievement.

"I've never really said this before, but I thought we had a squad good enough to win the league.

"But it's still brilliant to finish as runners-up. Full credit to the lads.

"Even going into the last six games, we had a load of difficult matches. We had to make two trips to Cumbria, and play the likes of champions New Marske, a strong Annfield Plain side, and a local derby with Boldon.

"So overall, I'm absolutely delighted."

Jarrow achieved their highest-placed finish in the league, beating the previous best of fifth, and also smashed their best-ever points tally of 67, ending the campaign with 76 points.
