JARROW Roofing boss Richie McLoughlin is looking for an instant reaction from his players when they host North Shields tonight.

McLoughlin was left far from happy after seeing his side lose 1-0 at Darlington RA on Saturday, the home side's first points of the season at the seventh attempt.

Roofing's bid to get promoted from Division Two of the Northern League at the first attempt is in danger of quickly crumbling, having already lost half of their opening eight games.

McLoughlin insists his players are good enough, but has demanded an improvement in the commitment they show out on the pitch.

He said: "We don't have a commitment problem with all our players, but some we do.

"Against Darlington, the talk at half time after looking at them was that with the wind at our backs, it would be three or four after we got one, but I told a few we will see after the game, as I have seen it so many times.

"They dug in, and credit to them they showed bottle.

"At this moment, we are not good to go up by a mile. It's hard on the people who work hard to get a good side, and run the club – they don't deserve this type of commitment.

"If I can get a side who can be mates on the pitch, as well as playing together, we may start to win games. If this does not come about, then we're done for."
