A GREAT attacking game for the neutrals wasn't enjoyed by Jarrow Roofing boss Richie McLoughlin.
His side's Northern League Division Two promotion hopes took another dent as they lost 2-1 at home to Esh Winning.

In the first period, Roofing just edged the half, forcing the Esh keeper Danny Molyneux into keeping out two one-on-ones, the first from Craig Tate who perhaps should have done better, and the second from debutant Davey Graham, who scuffed his shot.

At the other end Craig Shields saved a header from Michael Fort as the half ended goalless.

After the interval, Roofing's Kevin Davison headed against the post, while at the other end Shaun Gregory drove a rising shot over the bar.

Roofing got the breakthrough that they deserved on 75 minutes, however, when Graham headed past Molyneux from a corner kick for a goal on his debut.

Ryan Dunn and Mark Laidler, right and left wing-backs respectively, both had to be replaced by the Roofers in the closing 20 minutes of the game, and as a result Roofing lost some quality.

Esh grabbed an equaliser on 82 minutes when Craig Coates converted from close range in a goalmouth scramble.

And as the Roofers gave away the ball when in possession, Chris Smith was given too much time on the ball, and he rifled in an unstoppable shot that beat Shields from 20 yards for an injury-time winner.
