Roofing tribute to Shields

JARROW Roofing boss Richie McLoughlin has congratulated South Shields on their promotion to Division One of the Northern League – and has vowed that his side will be back facing them soon.
Roofing are swapping places with the Mariners after their relegation following a disatrous campaign.

But McLoughlin has wished his neighbours all the best, and is determined to get his side back up to the top flight at the first available opportun
ity.

He said: "Good luck and congratulations to South Shields after their promotion last night.

"They deserve it because the new regime has come in and worked really hard.

"Hopefully we will meet them again the following season. It's a shame
that we're going down as they're coming up, but it is up to us to do the job next year and get promoted."

McLoughlin was encouraged by his side's performance last night, despite a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bedlington Terriers.

The result virtually guarentees the Terriers won't be following Roofing out of Division One, but McLoughlin felt the scoreline flattered the visitors.

He said: "They only had three chances and scored three goals.

"We played pretty well, but just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net."

Bedlington's goals were scored by Craig McFarlane and a brace from Tony Shandran.
