DANNY Guthrie says Premier League leaders Chelsea are not invincible at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been beaten twice at home this season – by Liverpool and Burnley – while they have also been held there by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

While Guthrie, pictured, acknowledges fourth-bottom Newcastle – without an away win this season – are the underdogs, he insists Joe Kinnear's players will board the team bus convinced they can upset the odds, despite them seemingly being stacked against them.

He said: "It'll be a tough game, but they have already lost there this season for the first time in a long time, so it can be done.

"We're the underdogs, but there's no way anybody's going there thinking we can't win. We just have to stay positive, and nobody can afford to hide at Stamford Bridge.

"If you respect them too much, you're already halfway to losing. We need to go there and be positive. You have to be brave and play the same way you would at home, or against any other team."

Guthrie came on for the injured Joey Barton in the 2-2 draw against Wigan Athletic last Saturday, and the 22-year-old looks set for an extended run in Kinnear's side, with his fellow midfielder set to be out for eight weeks with a knee problem.

"I didn't get much of a warm-up against Wigan, and it was tough when I went on," said Guthrie.

"Wigan were playing well, and we weren't playing the way we have been recently.

"It was just a case of getting in at half-time.

"The manager said a few things, and we did better in the second half. It was just disappointing late on to concede after going ahead just before that."
