FORMER Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear has revealed his interest in becoming the next Scotland coach.
George Burley's dismissal on Monday has left the Scottish FA looking for a new national team boss, with Craig Levein and Walter Smith the leading contenders.

Ex-Scotland international John Collins has confirmed he is keen on the role, while Jimmy Calderwood has also shown an interest in the position.

Now Kinnear is ready to throw his hat into the ring after recovering from the heart bypass operation he had in February while in charge of Newcastle.

Kinnear was capped by the Republic of Ireland as a player, and had a spell in charge of India during his early coaching days.

The 62-year-old told Sky Sports News he is willing to undergo an interview with the Scottish FA.

"When I left Tottenham I moved on abroad, and my first job abroad was as manager of India.

"I was out there for two years, so I started off with an international side.

"I missed out on, I think, two occasions to be the manager of Ireland, which would always have been a dream job for me.

"But sure, why not? I'll throw my hat in the ring. If they felt they wanted to interview me, I'd be more than happy to go along and talk."
