SOL Campbell is being linked with a move to Newcastle United if his old England team-mate Alan Shearer gets the manager's job.
The 34-year-old former international defender is ready to leave Portsmouth after three years.

And reports today link him with a move to St James's' Park, in a bid to help Newcastle return to the Premier league at the first attempt.

Former Arsenal and Tottenham man Campbell is out of contract, and would not cost a fee, but his wage demands are likely to be substantial.

But he appears to be ready to hear what Shearer has to say - if his old Three Lions team-mate gets the United job.

"There are a few options out there," said Campbell. "I'm out of contract, and I'm going to listen to different offers.

"I'm aware of interest from other clubs, and that's nice to know. I want to make the right choice.

"People are now getting back from their holidays, and hopefully a deal can start moving."
