KEVIN Keegan is being linked with a summer move for Manchester United's Mikael Silvestre.
The Newcastle United boss is keen to strengthen his defence with players who have proved they can perform in the Premiership.

The French international has missed much of this season after picking up a serious knee injury in the Red Devils' 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park back in September.

The 30-year-old is now close to full fitness, and made his return to the reserve side in a friendly clash at Bolton Wanderers in midweek.

He is looking to get back in contention for the first team, but other players, such as Patrice Evra, John O'Shea and Wes Brown, appear to be ahead of him.

Silvestre has his work cut out, and the fansfc.com website says Keegan could make a bid of around £2m in the summer.
