NEWCASTLE United striker Shola Ameobi is unlikely to be keen on linking up with former Newcastle coach John Carver, who is now in charge of MLS side Toronto FC.
"Shola is a kid I brought through the system at Newcastle United, and a kid I know an awful lot about," said Carver, who was Bobby Robson's No 2 at St James's Park.
"If I can get Shola into this football club he would be a huge, huge asset for us."
Ameobi, however, would be dropping to a significantly lower standard of football, and is attracting interest closer to home.
He finished the season on loan at Stoke City, helping them to gain promotion to the Premier League, and has also been linked with another former mentor, Glenn Roeder, at Norwich City.
