SEBASTIEN Bassong comes in for his Newcastle United debut against Coventry City in tonight's Carling Cup tie at the Ricoh Arena.
Manager Kevin Keegan has also brought in Jose Enrique and Geremi for their first starts of the new campaign.
Steven Taylor drops down to the bench, and Saturday's matchwinner Michael Owen has to be content with a place among the substitutues as he continues his return from injury.
However, the injured duo of Damien Duff and Obafemi Martins are left out completely.
Also on the bench is new signing Nile Ranger, a 17-year-old striker who has joined the club's Academy from Southampton.
