NEWCASTLE United striker Shola Ameobi was today linked with a move MLS team Toronto FC.
The Canadian team, managed by former Newcastle coach John Carver, have reportedly launched an ambitious bid to team the striker up with another ex-Toon Army star, Laurent Robert.

Former Sunderland stars Danny Dichio and Carl Robinson are also stars in Tornto.

And another former United man, highly-rated strength and conditioning coach Paul Winsper, acted as a personal fitness guru to David Beckham in the last 12 months, and is also at Toronto.

Money and interest in the American leagues has rocketed since former England captain joined LA Galaxy from Real Madrid in a multi-million pound deal last season.

Beckham's side, rivals to Tornto FC, are coached by former Newcastle United boss Ruud Guillit.

No fee for Ameobi has been mooted, and it is believed Norwich City and Middlesbrough are tracking the striker's situation, following reports his summer move to newly-promoted Stoke City has collapsed.
