EVEN the rocks in South Tyneside appear to have plenty to smile about in the sunny weather.
This grinning piece of cliff, at Trow Rocks in South Shields, was snapped by Stephen Sullivan as he was out collecting crabs with his friends on Monday.
The 28-year-old from Stanhope Road, South Shields, said he looked up and realised the rock was ‘grinning’ away in the sun.
The club DJ said: “We were just milling about in the water, looking for crabs and things, when I spotted it.
“I then asked my friends if they thought it was grinning too and they all agreed, it looked so happy.”
Stephen returned to the spot, just below the Cannon replica gun, the next day to see if the face was still there or if it had just been a trick of the light.
But sure enough the rock’s happy grin was still smiling.
Stephen added: “I don’t know how none of us spotted it before, it’s so obvious once you see it.”
