ALBUM OF THE WEEK
VARIOUS ARTISTS
Radio 1's Live Lounge Volume 2

THE first volume of this excellent compilation of the best bits from the Live Lounge sold 800,000 copies.
I expect this to do the same.

Its 40 tracks include stripped-down versions of some modern classics and unique covers performed on Jo Whiley's influential daytime radio show.

It starts with an acoustic Times Like These by Foo Fighters, and the big names come thick and fast: KT Tunstall, Mark Ronson, Bloc Party, Gossip. Maximo Park, Keane, Colplay.

Side two begins with the Arctic Monkeys' take on Amy Winehouse's You Know I'm No Good, and it's one of the standout tracks, alongside The Enemy's cover of Madonna's Hung Up and Nelly Furtado's acoustic Maneater.

It'll doubtless find its way into lots of Christmas stockings, but if you can't wait to see if Santa brings you a copy, I'd thoroughly recommend it.
