SUNDERLAND manager Roy Keane has offered his support to striker Michael Chopra following reports he has checked himself into a rehab clinic.
The 24-year-old striker, who joined from Cardiff City last year, is believed to be in the Sporting Chance Clinic in Hampshire.
The clinic was set up by former Arsenal and England footballer Tony Adams and has been used by several professional players.
Keane said: "We are helping Michael as he deals with some personal issues, and he has the full support of everyone at the club.
"We ask that his privacy, and that of his family, is respected at this time, and the club will not be commenting further on this matter."
A former England under-21 international, Chopra started out at Newcastle United before moving to Cardiff.
He has a six-month-old son with his wife, 24-year-old reality TV performer Heather Swan, who was a hit on the ITV2 programme Wag's Boutique.
