NEWCASTLE, Sunderland, Man City, Liverpool, West Ham, Spurs, Villa, Blackburn, Birmingham, Ispwich, Stoke, QPR, Palace, Peterborough and Man United are making today's headlines.
Aston Villa are reported to be interested in signing controversial Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton, with Martin O'Neill viewing him as a long-term replacement for Gareth Barry. (Daily Mirror)

Dwight Yorke insists he will fight for his place at Sunderland after a major summer influx of players. (The Sun)

Elsewhere, Manchester City boss Mark Hughes insists he will be in charge of the players who come into Eastlands, despite the huge riches of the new Arabian investors. (Various)
