CELESTINE Babayaro has signed for Ruud Gullit's LA Galaxy after being paid up by Newcastle United.
The move reunites Babayaro with former Newcastle boss Gullit, who signed the left back for Chelsea in 1997.

Babayaro had been released by United before Christmas, having failed to get himself fit enough for first-team contention this season.

His move to St James's Park was nothing short of a disaster, the former Nigeria international - signed by Graeme Souness in January 2005 - spending most of the past three years in the treatment room.

The 29-year-old's last appearance for the club was almost 10 months ago, with Sam Allardyce having tried and failed to get to the bottom of his injury problems after taking charge last summer.

Babayaro joins David Beckham at the Major League Soccer club.
