JONAS Gutierrez's injury was today being assessed by Newcastle United's medical staff ahead of Argentina's friendly against Spain.
Gutierrez – named in Diego Maradona's squad for Saturday's game at the Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, along with club-mate Fabricio Coloccini – limped off minutes after scoring a stunning first Newcastle goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over Peterborough United with a thigh problem.

"He'll be assessed over the next couple of days, and we'll make a decision on whether he can go away with Argentina, but the feeling is that it isn't too bad," Hughton told the Gazette.
