ROY Keane will check on the fitness of Kieran Richardson today after the revitalised midfielder suffered an injury at the Black Cats' pre-season training camp in Portugal yesterday.
Richardson (pictured after the injury yesterday) has returned from the summer break looking faster, fitter and hungrier to do well.

But he had to sit out much of yesterday morning's workout at the FC Ferreiras stadium, near Albufeira, after suffering a dead leg during a keep-ball session.

Physio Pete Friar applied ice and strapping to Richardson's right thigh and Keane will not want to take any risks with any of his players less than a week-and-a-half into pre-season.

Richardson could therefore be a doubt for tomorrow's second and last game in Albufeira, against Vitoria de Setubal.

Sunderland fly home on Thursday and have their next pre-season run-out in Cork, Ireland, on Monday against Keane's former club Cobh Ramblers.
