SOL Campbell has again admitted he would welcome a move to Newcastle United.

The former England defender has been without a club since his ill-fated spell at League Two Notts County earlier this season.

Campbell only played one game for the Meadow Lane club before quitting in September, and County still hold his registration.

The 35-year-old and his advisors will appear before a Football League hearing on December 10 concerning his contract, after which he hopes to be able to resume his playing career.

Newcastle boss Chris Hughton has already revealed his interest in signing the centre-half, and will continue to monitor developments.

And Campbell admitted: "It would be a great move for me, so who knows?

"I've got to keep on training, and hopefully people will sort things behind the scenes so I can get going and play football. That's all I want to do.

"At the moment I'm training at Arsenal, keeping fit, which is the main thing.

"It's been really good being there, and they have got me up to speed."
