STEVEN Taylor is out of tonight's game against Sheffield United.
The defender - who has missed Newcastle's last three games with a hamstring problem - has failed a late fitness test.

However, Fabricio Coloccini and Danny Simpson return to Chris Hughton's starting XI from their respective groin and ankle injuries, and Tamas Kadar will make a second consecutive start in defence.

Strikers Nile Ranger and Marlon Harewood are both on the bench, with midfielder Kevin Nolan supporting lone front man Andy Carroll.

Meanwhile, ex-Newcastle goalkeeper Ian Bennett is between the posts for Kevin Blackwell's side.

* There will be a minute's applause before the game for former Sheffield United and Newcastle forward Keith Kettleborough, who sadly passed away this morning.

NEWCASTLE UNITED: Harper; Simpson, Coloccini, Kadar, Enrique; R Taylor, Nolan, Butt, Smith, Gutierrez; Carroll. Subs: Krul Guthrie, Harewood, Geremi, Ranger, Tozer, Donaldson.
