Crucial clash for Hebburn

HEBBURN first XI will be away to Heaton Park CC in Northumberland League Division One tomorrow, writes BRIAN McVITTIE.

The Tyne Tunnel 2-sponsored side will be hoping for a crucial win that would see them go above Heaton in the table.

When the sides met earlier in the season, Hebburn were left frustrated by the weather when rain intervened with 29 runs needed with eight wickets in hand.

Aidan Berry was the hero that day with five wickets, including a hat-trick, so it is hoped that he can cause the Park batsmen similar problems this time around.

Hebburn are boosted by the return of Nick Whitehead, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Key bowlers Mark Carmichael and Darren Simpson also return to a strong-looking side.

Meanwhile, the second team will be at home to Monkseaton and looking to bounce back after last week's defeat at Blyth, which ended their four-match winning run.

Captain Harry Graves said " We've got several players back this weekend so we'll be looking to get back on track again".
