Fans can see Durham's title bid for free
DURHAM County Cricket Club are offering free admission to days three and four of their potential Championship decider match against Nottinghamshire at Riverside this week.
Geoff Cook's side will be looking to win their second successive LV County Championship title by securing a win over their nearest contenders.
They went in to the match today 27 points ahead of Nottinghamshire, with a game in hand, knowing a win will see them clinch the Championship in front of a home crowd.
In fact, 11 points will do – meaning a draw and maximum batting and bowling points would be enough.
Durham's director of marketing Mark Foster said: "This is a hugely- important match for the team as they look to win their second successive Championship title.
"We want to encourage as many people as possible to come to Riverside, and cheer the team on through the final stages of the match and show their support to the side, who have remained unbeaten so far this season."
Play is scheduled to start at 10.30am each day, with free admission available to all supporters on Friday and Saturday.
Large numbers of spectators are expected so anyone wishing to attend, including members, should contact the box office, during office hours, on 0844 499 4466 and book their place in advance.
Head coach Cook named a 12-man squad for the game, including Durham's leading Championship wicket-taker Stephen Harmison, and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who will be keen to add to the century he scored last week against Somerset.
Durham are without Graham Onions, however, who has been added to the England one-day squad, and Callum Thorp, who is carrying a back injury.
