Chelsea open £32m talks while Manchester clubs battle Arsenal for World Cup winner

MANCHESTER City and Manchester United look set to have a number of battles in the summer transfer window.

According to a report in one of today’s newspapers, they are in a race with Arsenal to sign a Spanish World Cup winner.

Chelsea, meanwhile, appear to be stepping up their transfer activity, with a £32m deal for a La Liga star in the offing.

Man City, Arsenal and Man United want to sign Barcelona’s World Cup-winning midfielder Xavi, who still has two years left on his contract. (Daily Star)
