Jarrow Roofing welcome Northumberland Senior Cup winners North Shields to the Boldon C.A. Sports Ground tonight, in what is the home side’s final game of the Northern League Division One campaign.

Roofing go into the clash against an in-form Shields side on the back of two defeats against Washington and Whitley Bay.

Prior to these losses, the Roofers had been on a run of excellent form and boss Richie McLoughlin will be hoping that his side will be able to turn things round and finish the season on a high.

Despite the two recent defeats, Roofing will still finish the season on a relative high, considering that only a few weeks ago they looked a side that may be relegated to the Northern League Division Two.

Since then a free-scoring front line helped to put together a fantastic run of results and tonight’s clash gives the South Tyneside-based outfit another chance to rediscover that kind of form.

But the challenge will be a tough one, with Shields still riding high after a brilliant 4-3 cup win over Spartans, a side who narrowly missed out on promotion from the Northern Premier League Premier Division this season.

The Robins have managed to keep up the good form since that win, beating Northern League Division One Champions Shildon 1-0 on Saturday.

Against a strong outfit, what Roofing have in their favour is that their fixture list has been less congested than their opponents.

Nevertheless, the home side do have a number of injury problems to contend with, something that boss McLoughlin has blamed on his side’s recent downturn in form.

McLoughlin said ahead of tonight’s clash: “We’ve had a few key players out over the last couple of games and that’s had a negative impact on the performances.”

“We’re still not 100 per cent sure on who will be available with injuries and sickness.

“We’ve been missing the likes of Corey Barnes, Anth Myers, Kerry Hedley and Adam Sakr which has hurt us.”

Kick off is at 7.30pm at the Boldon C.A. Sports Ground.
