THE transfer window may have closed, but that has not stopped Arsenal being linked with signing a striker today.
Romanian forward Ciprian Marica, who is a free agent after leaving Schalke, is close to joining the Gunners, according to the player’s agent.
Marica’s agent told the Daily Mirror that the 27-year-old is nearing a switch to Arsenal, despite reported interest from Shakhtar Dontesk, Lazio and Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, who has been at Stamford Bridge since 2004, has attracted interest from Barcelona, according to a report in one of today’s newspapers.
Cech is being lined up to replace the outgoing Victor Valdes at Barcelona, according to the Daily Star.
In another story, the Sun had Newcastle linked with a move for Oldham Athletic defender James Tarkowski, who is also interesting Stoke City.
