New boys East Durham enjoy La Liga win

NEW team East Durham won 1-0 in a tight affair against an improving Hebburn Quay in the La Liga Division Two.

Holland was the match winner, slotting his chance home in fine style.

Hebburn Town Juniors ran out 4-2 winners over Gladiators FC.

Barry and Wanless were on the mark for the Gladiators, with Watson (2), Morris and Davison replying for Hebburn.

FC Sparta got the better of Hebburn Phoenix, despite the latter defending well for long periods.

Sparta took control, with goals from Patchett, Clarke (2) and a great hat-trick from star man Crooks.

Ryhope Blues scored their first win of the season running out 2-0 winners over Sheriff Hill Blues. Two goals from the lively Firth sealed the win.

Hebburn Town Gold are top of the table after their emphatic 6-0 win over Consett Terriers.

On the scoresheet for Gold were Parker, Brooman, Scott and a great hat-trick from Falcus.

Monkton Juniors won 4-0 against St Cuthbert's. Goals from Coyne, Pringle, Williamson and Stevenson secured the points.

In La Liga Division One, sponsored by The Shields Gazette, Boldon Colts are top of the table after their 4-1 drubbing of Gateshead FC, who put up a good show.

In fact, Gateshead led 1-0 early on through a Lynn shot which flew home.

However, strikes from Guy, McQuillon and McCaffery (2) saw Boldon take the spoils after some lovely football.

Consett Chiefs remain unbeaten in second place after their 3-1 win over Wrekenton Nou Camp in a very exciting match.

Cole netted well for Wrekenton, but goals from Johnson, McVickers and Milner kept the Durham side on track in the chase for top spot.

In a tight game between Hebburn Reyrolle and Whiteleas Galaxy, the Shields team took the points.

Agar finished well to get the all-important goal for Whiteleas.

Hebburn Town Blues have started the season well and continued their good form with a 4-0 win over Leam Rangers.

Playing some lovely attacking football, the Hebburn side scored through star man Carter (2), Hudson and Donaghy to move into fifth place.

Sheriff Hill Reds are finding it hard going, but never gave up in their 8-1 defeat against Fatfield FC.

Miller finished in style for the Gateshead side, but it wasn't enough as goals from Robinson (2) and two superb hat-tricks from Finlay and Thompson wrapped up the points for Fatfield.

Jarrow FC Cheetahs got off the mark with their first win when they defeated Consett Raiders 4-1.

Strikes by Dixon and Harris, and two goals from Pinnock, were enough to see Cheetahs take the spoils.
