NEWCASTLE United’s Sammy Ameobi has suffered another injury – and faces an extended spell on the sidelines.
Ameobi returned to training last week after recovering from a knee problem.
But the forward won’t be involved against Everton at St James’s Park tomorrow night after picking up an ankle injury.
United manager Alan Pardew has also revealed defender Davide Santon isn’t yet ready to return from a bout of tonsillitis, despite training today.
“Sammy’s hurt his ankle,” Pardew told the Gazette. “He’s going to miss it.
“Davide Santon’s trained, but he’s been very poorly, so we’re building him up for Southampton (on Saturday).
“I think he’ll be involved there, but not this one.”
Forward Loic Remy (calf) and defender Mathieu Debuchy (groin) aren’t expected back until well into next month.
Meanwhile, defender Phil Jagielka could return for Everton.
Jagielka has missed the club’s last four games with a hamstring injury.
