GAEL Bigirimana’s facing up to five weeks on the sidelines after suffering an injury playing for Newcastle United’s Under-21s.
The midfielder was a candidate to be loaned out this month, having made just one first-team appearance so far this season.
But Bigirimana is going nowhere for the foreseeable future after hurting his ankle in Tuesday’s Under-21 Premier League loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
“It’s Bigi’s ankle – it’s four or five weeks,” United manager Alan Pardew told the Gazette.
Bigirimana, 19, impressed last season after joining the club from Coventry City. He made 25 appearances for the injury-hit club.
Meanwhile, one or more Newcastle players could yet be loaned out this month, with winger Gabriel Obertan a candidate for a spell away from St James’s Park.
