Jamie Sterry made his Newcastle United debut in Sunday's 5-1 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old defender replaced captain Moussa Sissoko late in the Premier League at St James's Park.

Here are five things you need to know about the tough-tackling right-back:

1. Jamie was first named on Newcastle's bench last season. He was an unused substitute at Anfield last April, where United were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool.

2. Jamie's dad, Lee, is a UEFA B qualified coach and runs a successful sports coaching business.

3. Jamie, born and bred in Newcastle, is eligible to play for Italy as well as England as his grandfather is Italian.

4. Jamie overcame a series of injuries, including ankle and back problems, to earn a two-year professional deal at St James's Park last year.

5. Jamie's favourite all-time footballer is Paul Gascoigne, and he also admires Barcelona pair Dani Alves and Gerard Pique.
