Newcastle United youngster Adam Armstrong was on target for England Under-19s today to help them book their place at the Euro Championships with a 2-0 win over Spain.
The 18-year-old forward netted for the Young Lions just eight minutes after stepping off the bench.
Armstrong then took to Twitter, posting a picture of the squad celebrating in the changing room.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Josh Onomah gave Aidy Boothroyd’s side a sixth-minute lead, but England were indebted to another Newcastle man, goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
Spain registered twice as many shots on and off target as the Young Lions, but they could not find a way past Woodman.
And Boothroyd’s bold decision to introduce Armstrong in the place of wide-man Patrick Roberts paid off, with the striker – enjoying a great season on loan at Coventry – bagging on 66 minutes.
