Ayoze Perez has confirmed his commitment to Newcastle United despite being linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spaniard is a reported target of a number of Premier League clubs, including Spurs, who have a long-standing interest in the attacker.
I was part of the relegation and I am preparing to return to my best.
But the 22-year-old insists he wants to help get the Magpies back into the Premier League after last season’s relegation.
Perez, who would command a fee of more than £10million, signed a new contract back in January, keeping him at Newcastle until 2021.
Toon boss Rafa Benitez is a fan of the player, who can operate up front or as an attacking midfielder, and will look to the former Tenerife player to help United gain promotion.
Asked about his future by Spanish publication El Dia, Perez said: “I have a contract (with Newcastle) until 2021.
“I was part of the relegation and I am preparing to return to my best.
“It was not a good year collectively or individually, but I scored some goals.
“You have to take the positives and think about what’s coming.
“It’s going to be tough but in your career, a player must always jump over obstacles.”
Newcastle signed Perez for £1.8million from Tenerife two years ago.
