Broken-leg-scare Toon star ‘fit for Saints visit’

BROKEN LEG SCARE ... Newcastle's Yoan Gouffran should be fit for the next Premier League game.

BROKEN LEG SCARE ... Newcastle's Yoan Gouffran should be fit for the next Premier League game.

YOAN Gouffran will be fit for Newcastle United’s return to Premier League action.

The forward suffered a badly gashed leg in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

There had been fears Gouffran - who scored Newcastle’s goal at White Hart Lane - had broken his leg.

But an X-ray gave the 26-year-old the all-clear, and Gouffran will be available for Southampton’s visit to St James’s Park on February 24.

“It’s all good news,” said Pardew. “We think he’ll train on Monday.”

Gouffran joined United from Bordeaux last month.
