Cheick Tiote will stay at Newcastle United – until January at least.
Proposed summer moves to Galatasaray and Olympiacos broke down.
But there was also interest in the midfielder, in the last year of his St James's Park, from the Middle East.
The transfer window in the United Arab Emirates closes today.
And the Gazette understands that Tiote, signed from FC Twente six years ago, will not be leaving the club before the deadline.
Tiote is instead focused on forcing his way into Rafa Benitez's table-topping Championship team.
Speaking earlier this month, United manager Benitez said: "He's training really well, so I just told him ‘look, just wait a little bit, keep training hard and then we can decide'.
“He's a player who still has something to offer.”
Tiote, 30, has made one substitute appearance this season for United, who take on Ipswich Town at St James's Park on Saturday.
