CHELSEA, Liverpool, Man City, Newcastle and Sunderland made the transfer headlines on as the summer window hots up.

On a day when Gareth Barry completed his move to Everton, signing a three-year deal, there were also plenty of rumours.

The national newspapers followed up the Gazette’s story from yesterday about Sunderland being interested in Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell.

And Newcastle right-back Mathieu Debuchy’s proposed move to Arsenal also continued to make column inches.
