Daryl Murphy has been forced out of the Republic of Ireland squad by injury.
The Newcastle United striker travelled to Dublin to meet up with his international colleagues ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Moldova.
But Murphy, signed from Ipswich Town this summer, has had to return to Tyneside for treatment.
The 33-year-old – who scored on his last appearance for his country – has a calf problem, according to coach Martin O'Neill.
Murphy has made only one appearance for Newcastle since moving from Ipswich.
The Waterford-born player – who spent five years at Sunderland earlier in his career – started the club's 2-0 EFL Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
