FORMER Newcastle United midfielder Nicky Butt is expected to assist Ryan Giggs in his temporary spell as Manchester United manager.
Giggs has been appointed on an interim basis by the Old Trafford club after David Moyes’s sacking was confirmed this morning.
Butt and Giggs came through the ranks together at Man United, and were part of the famous ‘Class of 92’ which won the FA Youth Cup.
Their task now is to guide the Red Devils through the final four fixtures of the season, ahead of a permanent appointment being made in the summer.
Butt played for Newcastle between 2004 and 2010, before retiring after a short spell in China.
In October 2012, he rejoined Man United as one of their reserve coaches, but now looks set to make another step up.
