Frank de Boer has confirmed Inter Milan's interest in Newcastle United's Moussa Sissoko.
Sissoko – who is out of this afternoon's game against Bristol City at Ashton Gate with an ankle problem – is desperate to leave the club in the wake of relegation.
But Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez wants to keep the 27-year-old at St James's Park.
United are yet to receive a firm bid for the £35million-rated France international, who starred at Euro 2016.
However, Inter manager de Boer is considering a move for him and Sporting Lisbon's Joao Mario.
"We need a strong team, and perhaps it's true that our midfield is not complete yet at the moment," said de Boer.
"We will have to keep a close eye on what happens on the transfer market. Joao Mario and Sissoko are interesting players."
