DAVID Meyler says his jokey celebration over his clash with Alan Pardew was just ‘banter’.
Former Sunderland star Meyler scored the second goal against his old club as Hull City beat them 3-0 in the FA Cup quarter-final today.
Meyler celebrated his strike by headbutting the corner-flag, a nod to last week’s altercation with Pardew which saw the Newcastle boss charged by the Football Association and fined by his club.
But the Irishman insists the matter is now in the past, saying: “It’s all done and dusted obviously, he’s apologised, it’s forgotten about.
“It was a bit of banter, a bit of craic.”
