Newcastle boss Pardew blasts Ben Arfa’s lack of professionalism

FROZEN OUT ... Hatem Ben Arfa.

FROZEN OUT ... Hatem Ben Arfa.

HATEM Ben Arfa isn’t producing the required professionalism and commitment to play for Newcastle United, says manager Alan Pardew.

The enigmatic forward has been axed from the first-team picture at Newcastle since the squad returned for pre-season training.

Ben Arfa – who was reportedly fined by the club for returning overweight – has been forced to train with the club’s youngsters, and wasn’t included in the squad which flew out to Germany for a pre-season tour today.

Pardew says the Frenchman must show more commitment to the club if he is to regain his place, but it seems the winger is unlikely to play for the club again.

“It’s a simple situation,” Pardew told BBC Newcastle.

“We have a professionalism and a level of commitment to our work that he needs to fall into and until he falls into that he won’t be part of the first team.

“He isn’t at the moment and he’s injured today, ironically, but he’s still part of the club.”
