Henri Saivet is wanted on loan by Saint-Etienne, according to a report in France.
The midfielder, signed from Bordeaux in January, is not in Rafa Benitez's plans at St James's Park.
And L'Equipe report that Saint-Etienne want to take Saivet back to France.
The Ligue 1 club are said to be prepared to pay a sizeable proportion of his United wages.
Meanwhile, Saviet's midfield colleague Cheick Tiote has been linked with a move to Galatasaray.
Tiote, 30-year-old, in the last year of his United deal, is keen to leave Newcastle this summer.
And Galatasaray, having missed out on Liverpool's Lucas Leiva, are reportedly ready to move for Tiote.
