Newcastle news: Rafa eyes cup success, Grayson says NUFC are on another level, Mitrovic praised

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez admits he is dreaming of success in the EFL Cup.

The Magpies last night blasted their way into the League Cup quarter-finals with a 6-0 win over Preston at St James' Park. Aleksandar Mitrovic and Mohamed Diame each scored twice, while Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez also found the net.

Ahead of tonight's draw, Benitez has revealed that he has got his sights set on cup success this season.

Meanwhile, Preston boss Simon Grayson believes Newcastle are "geared for success" under Benitez.

The two clubs meet again in the Championship at Deepdale on Saturday.

But speaking after his side's hammering, the gaffer said that the Magpies are on another level to his side.

And elsewhere Benitez has hailed the return of Serbian forward Mitrovic to the United first-team.

Mitrovic has only started three games this season – and two of them have ended in 6-0 wins.
