Newcastle's Freddie Woodman to set 'new goals' for club and country after England call

Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong have been named in the England Under-19 squad for two friendlies ahead of the summer's European Championships in Germany.

The Newcastle United pair, both 19, are in Aidy Boothroyd's 24-man party for next month's double-header against Mexico.

Woodman has on the bench in recent months,

The goalkeeper, son of former goalkeeping coach Andy, took to Twitter after yesterday's 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at St James's Park.

He tweeted: "Fans were brilliant today.

"It's been a long season for us all but I'm looking forward to working hard over summer and setting new goals."

Woodman was recalled from a loan spell at Crawley Town in October after No 1 Tim Krul suffered a season-ending injury.

Forward Armstrong had a successful loan at Coventry City.

England will play Mexico on June 4 and 6 at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento national training centre, near Mexico City.
