Newcastle-target Debuchy edges closer to Lille exit door

MATHIEU Debuchy is a step closer to the Lille exit door – and a move to Newcastle United.

Lille, Debuchy’s club, has signed right-back Djibril Sidibe from Troyes.

Up to now the French club has been adamant that Newcastle-target Debuchy would not be allowed to leave until a replacement had been signed.

And the arrival of 20-year-old Sidibe is a significant development in United’s long-running pursuit of Debuchy.

France international Debuchy, 26, failed to turn up for the first day of pre-season training at Lille on Saturday.
