Rafa Benitez has held more talks with Newcastle United's hierarchy – and progress has been made.

The relegated club's manager has a clause in his contract allowing him to leave St James's Park this summer.

But Benitez has met owner Mike Ashley and managing director Lee Charnley for discussions over a longer stay on Tyneside in the wake of relegation from the Premier League.

And the latest round of talks with Charnley have been productive.

United winger Andros Townsend has had his say on Benitez here.

Townsend, yesterday named in Roy Hodgson's provisional 26-man England squad, has also spoken about his hopes for Euro 2016.

Broadcaster Richard Keys, meanwhile, has launched an astonishing attack on Benitez and his recent record.

We also have news on Tim Krul, whose contractual situation will need to be addressed by the club if he stays on at the club.

Finally, Ashley has agreed to meet MPs to discuss working practices at his Sports Direct empire – but there's one condition.
