Newcastle United host Manchester City at St James’s Park tonight in a crucial Premier League match.

Newcastle’s hopes of staying up were given a major boost with the convincing 3-0 win over Swansea City at the weekend.

Rafa Benitez’s side go in search of back-to-back victories tonight.

And the manager says he won’t be afraid to drop big names at Newcastle United as he looks to guide the club to safety.

Benitez left Jonjo Shelvey and Aleksandar Mitrovic out of his starting XI against Swansea City at the weekend.

And neither player is guaranteed a recall.

Asked if any player was “undroppable”, Benitez said: “As I said before, I don’t think about names.

“I’m just thinking about what we need on the pitch to win.”

Meanwhile, Benitez has been speaking about Mitrovic and his chances of a recall this evening.

Asked if Mitrovic’s cameo had given him a decision to make for the Man City game, Benitez said: “We needed to see how they were (and) if they have some knocks or problems.

“I praised the team.

“The 11 starters and the substitutes at the end of the game, because a lot of them made a contribution.”
